Privacy Policy
Set is built with a simple privacy principle: your training data belongs to you. We collect as little as possible and store everything on your device first.
Data Storage
All workout data, lift records, and settings are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. Training records stay on your device unless you choose iCloud sync, export, or another sharing action.
iCloud Sync
If you enable iCloud sync, your data is stored in your personal iCloud account via Apple's CloudKit framework. This syncs data across your own devices signed into the same Apple ID. We do not have access to your iCloud data. Apple's privacy practices govern iCloud storage.
Permissions
Set requests the following permissions, only when you use features that require them:
- Camera — Used for OCR scanning of whiteboards and workout programming photos. Images are processed on-device and are not uploaded or stored beyond the scanning session.
- Photo Library — Used to import photos for OCR processing. Selected photos are processed on-device only.
- Apple Health — Used for athlete profile data, same-day strength workouts, sleep, heart-rate variability, resting heart rate, respiratory rate, blood oxygen, sleeping wrist temperature, VO2 max, body fat, lean body mass, waist circumference, heart-rate recovery, workout effort, and recovery signals when you enable Health-based features such as Biological Age, Load Check, and workout reminders. Health data is read on-device for local calculations, and Set does not upload Health data to our servers.
- Load Check soreness check-ins — Optional daily soreness answers are stored locally on your device and used only for on-device readiness estimates.
- Microphone — Used for voice dictation when logging workouts. Dictation runs only with Apple's on-device speech recognition, so captured audio stays on your device.
- Speech Recognition — Used to convert voice input to text for workout logging. If on-device recognition is unavailable for the current language or device, dictation is unavailable instead of sending audio to a server.
Analytics & Tracking
Set does not use any analytics frameworks, tracking pixels, or advertising SDKs. We do not collect usage data or behavioral analytics, and crash reports never leave your device on their own. Voluntary feedback uses a service hosted on Cloudflare.
Voluntary Feedback
Settings > About > Send Feedback sends the message and category you enter, the app version, and the feedback screen/iOS context to Set's Feedback Hub service. Your email address is included only if you choose to receive a reply. If you turn on Share diagnostics for a message, it also includes a short summary of the crash, hang, and launch reports iOS gave Set on this device in the last 30 days: counts, exception types, durations, and app build numbers. The summary is shown before you send and contains no workout or Health data. The option is off for every new message. Drafts stay on this device until delivery is confirmed. Submitted feedback is stored for the app owner to review in a private dashboard. The service receives your source IP address for request handling and submission quotas.
Sending feedback does not attach your workout history, Health data, device identifiers, or account credentials. Avoid including sensitive information in the message. Contact us below to request deletion of submitted feedback.
Shared Program Links
When you share a Program, Set creates a link to set-app.pages.dev that carries the Program's workouts in the link itself. Opening that link on a device without Set loads a page from our website, hosted on Cloudflare, so the Program contents in the link reach the hosting provider as part of the request. The page uses no analytics or third-party scripts and sends no referrer. Share Program links only with people you choose.
Accounts
Set does not require or support user accounts. There is no sign-up, login, or authentication process. Feedback can include an email address if you choose to receive a reply.
Third-Party Sharing
We do not sell your data. When you send feedback, Cloudflare processes the submission as the hosting provider for our feedback service. Training records and Health data are not attached to feedback automatically.
Children's Privacy
Set does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. Please do not include personal information about children in feedback messages.
Data Deletion
You can delete local training data at any time using the full reset option in the app's Settings. This removes local training records, profile preferences, Load Check readiness snapshots, and soreness check-ins. Feedback drafts are separate; erase the message and email fields in Send Feedback to remove their contents. If you use iCloud sync, you can manage your iCloud data through your device's iCloud settings.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the app or on this page. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
